The venue underwent another renovation in the summer of 2012, unveiling the breathtaking Country Fare and Great Hall event spaces. An exciting multi-purpose project commenced with the laying of the cornerstone on June 9, 2012. Over the years, the building underwent expansions in 1912 and 1935, with subsequent renovations in the 1960s.
In 2006, 2012 and 2013, Catalyst Ranch won the Most Unique Venue and Best Conference Venue, respectively, in Illinois Meetings & Events Best Of Awards. The rooms are housed in a historical loft in downtown Chicago and whimsically furnished with vintage furniture, ethnic artwork, colorfully painted walls, toys, books and much more.
Few of the numerous mercantile livery halls operating at the time were pro-actively marketing their spaces for private hire – and certainly not ‘out of office hours’ – so there was no industry guidebook to refer to. The next morning, I wandered nearby Namdaemun Market on my own, browsing and eating street food, then headed back to the Plaza Hotel for a tour. The views from the property’s 22nd-floor meeting space stretched even farther than those from my guest room, out over the mountains that ring Seoul. SOUL FOR SEOUL.
