Making events that work in different settings for different types of attendees reflects the reality that people need different things from continuing education and collaboration. Some attendees are busy parents, or may run their own business, which can make it difficult to step aside for a few days to attend an in-person conference. The costs of flying, staying in hotels, and even of the event itself could be a deterrent.
One of the most valuable tools I use liberally at the start of peer conferences is a variety of human spectrograms , also known as body voting. There’s no quicker and more entertaining way to publicly uncover vital information about who’s in the room.
